Why Mirza Aslam Beg Should Be Made an Example out of

Politicians have come and gone, ousted and exiled, punished and threatened and even killed and hanged, but for the first time in history, Pakistan is close to seeing, for the very first time in its short history as an independent country, that an army general will be held accountable for his crimes against this nation.

Pakistan is unique in many ways, positive and negative. The most negative being that politics in this country has always been influenced by a non-political hand which should have been rather been busy in defending the borders of this nation. Due to a select few individuals who considered themselves above those who they were meant to defend, not only separated this country, spread anarchy, hate and lies but also destroyed the foundation from which we should have built on the day Pakistan gained independence.

It is a known fact that the very founder of this great nation was allowed to die, in a conspiracy by those individuals, following the murder of the first Prime Minister, a judicial murder of another chief executive along with the killing and conspiring to kill a number of others. Political freedom from these forces is something this country is yet to see and until and unless, people like Mirza Aslam Beg, who consider themselves still to this day, higher and superior to those around them despite having been retired for more than a decade from the armed forces, are made an example out of.

The infiltrators like Beg, have spent their entire career in our dignified institutions and have always worked against the interest of this nation. From having a mindset that would not allow him to salute one of greatest and most capable woman this world has ever seen, ex-Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, to conspiring and influencing public decisions during elections, Mirza Aslam Beg has definitely committed some of the most disgraceful acts one can think of and should be made an example out of for generations to see.

Not just constitutionally, but morally and ethically, Beg deserves the maximum extent of punishment the law allows in order for Pakistan to actually take a step towards progression and break free from the incapable and undermining clutches that have held this country from making any gains and strides in all walks of life.

It is even sadder to see that those individuals are still being backed by a few select perpetrators instead of condemning such people and backing action against them for the betterment of the nation. The idea that the Supreme Court, government or even the people of Pakistan are developing a negative image of our armed forces by doing this would be the worst possible thought imaginable. Instead, the people of Pakistan are looking forward to cleanse the system of individuals who have caused such defamation, which has now led to such horrible circumstances.

There are no modern examples of the great nations in today’s world that are being run by people who have nothing to do with the administration of this country. Turkey on the other hand, is a prime example of a nation which broke free from the grip of extremism and dictatorship. They sentenced those generals, three of which two were retired and one serving still, who were found to be part of criminal activities against the nation, to life and made a milestone in history to free themselves of barbaric and uncivilised entities.

Turkey is much like Pakistan in the regard that they have also seen a number of military coups. In 1960, 1971, 1980 and 1997. Pakistan and its political leadership, with the support of the people and other institutions can follow the same example and enter a new era of constitutional dominance and freedom from those hands which have always worked against national interests.

It is now time for the government to support the Supreme Court in all ways possible and ensure a free trial, investigation and punishment for people like Mirza Aslam Beg and free this country from the darkness it has been trapped in for the past 60-plus years.

Again this is an example of our hypocrisy, why not punish other generals because they are punjabees Pathan etc, while Baig has no such ground. We are heading towards total economical & moral collapse.
In fact what we need is an Ahmedinejad to take us out from the shameless darknesses of our hypocrisy & plundering of our beloved country in every field of life.
