Pakistan welcomes Polish investors: PM

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf Tuesday said that there is great potential of investment in Pakistan especially in the energy and agriculture sector and Pakistan will welcome Polish investors who can benefit from investment friendly policies of Pakistan. The Prime Minister was talking to a Polish delegation led by Bogdan Borusewicz, Chairman of the Senate of Poland which called on him at the Prime Minister’s House.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan holds Poland in high esteem and enjoys good and close relations with it.

 

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan was thankful to Poland for extending support to Pakistan in the European Union for grant of trade concession. The Prime Minister also thanked Poland for extending humanitarian assistance to Pakistan during times of natural calamities.

 

Bogdan Borusewicz, Marshal, Chairman of the Senate of Poland said that exchange of Parliamentary delegation provide an opportunity to both the countries to have dialogue on a broader scale than is possible through normal diplomatic channels.
Introducing the members of his delegation the Polish Senate Chairman said that they were important politicians in Poland representing treasury as well as opposition.
This, he said reflected the importance attached to Pakistan by Poland.
The Prime Minister said that “when parliamentarians of two countries meet they carry the wishes and aspirations of the people”, this he said, makes such exchanges more effective.
The Chairman of the Senate of Poland informed the Prime Minister that two Polish companies are working in Pakistan and are involved in exploration of gas in Pakistan.
He said this is a testimony that there is a lot of potential for foreign investors in Pakistan and that they feel secure, he added.
Prime Minister Ashraf said that Pakistan is fighting war on terrorism as a frontline state and has rendered many sacrifices.
Terrorism, he said, is a menace which is a threat to humanity.
Talking about Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan believes in an Afghan-led and Afghan owned solution and hopes that there is stability in Afghanistan.
The Chairman of the Senate of Poland said that he was happy that democracy is flourishing in Pakistan and informed the Prime Minister that Poland will send observers to monitor general elections in Pakistan.
