Yuvraj Singh cherishing good Test comeback

All-rounder Yuvraj Singh returned to Test team after almost a year and though it wasn’t a fairytale, he did make some impact by playing a magnificent knock of 74, as India cruised to massive victory in the opening game against England.

Enormously delighted over making a decent comeback, Yuvraj said that it feels great to be back in whites, adding that he had always enjoyed playing Test cricket for the country.

“It’s wonderful to be back in whites. I cherish this experience and playing Test cricket for India is something that I have cherished all my life,” said Yuvraj to the official BCCI website after the Ahmedabad win.

Yuvraj unluckily lost his wicket on a full toss and as a result, missed out on a hundred. The left-hander started his innings brilliantly, and stayed solid until losing his wicket. He himself expressed disappointment over giving away wickets in an unfortunate manner.

“It was a good start but I should actually have scored a hundred in the first innings,” admitted Yuvraj. “I was really upset when I got out on 74. Once you get set, you have to go and score a big one. But unfortunately I couldn’t do that.”

Yuvraj, after getting cancer treatment, made his return to the side in the recent T20 World Cup. There were some concerns over his fitness, but by doing well in the longest version of the game, he has cleared all.

The classy batsman recently did well at the domestic level, scoring a double century in the Duleep Trophy semifinal against Central Zone. Continuing his fine batting form, he scored a very good half-century in the practice game against England ahead of the first Test.

“I was confident of doing well because I had good all-round performances in my last two domestic games. There’s no point looking back and thinking about what people think of me. I’m back into the team and it’s time for me to look forward,” he stated.

On Virat Kohli who has recently emerged as India’s main player, he shared, “I think his growth has been phenomenal. He’s one of the fittest guys in the team. He’s lost a lot of weight and has gotten stronger. He has learnt how to convert 60s and 70s into big hundreds. He works really hard in whatever he does.”
