Russia’s experienced players Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov continued their impressive performance and landed a title berth in Men’s Doubles category at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton GP Gold 2012, which is in progress in Macau.

In the semi-final battle, the in-form Ivanov and Sozonov showed a great performance and outplayed Indonesia’s Gideon Markus Fernaldi and Agripinna Prima Rahmanto Putra in a dominating fashion.

The top seeded Ivanov and Sozonov played in a remarkable fashion as they did not face any trouble from their seventh seeded Indonesian challengers and remained successful in winning this fight in straight games by taking just 28 minutes in the arena.

On the other hand, the lower ranked Gideon and Agripinna tried their best to play attacking badminton but they failed to control the pace of rallies and lost the semi-final battle without taking any set.

Ivanov and Sozonov showed a wonderful aggression in the arena from the initial points of first set and easily built a huge pressure on their opponents.

The hard-to-learn variations in Ivanov and Sozonov’s shots helped them to maintain their domination against Indonesian shuttlers in the arena.

Russian shuttlers did not show any respect to their spirited challengers in the starting half and took a tremendous lead until the break.

After the one-minute interval, the aggressive Ivanov and Sozonov remained comfortable in the arena as they played with the same aggressive approach.

Ivanov and Sozonov did not reduce the pace of rallies at any stage and comfortably grabbed the first set with a stunning 21-14 margin on the board.

Things were almost identical in the second game when Ivanov and Sozonov continued playing positive and fast badminton and took an early lead.

Ivanov and Sozonov were in incredible control of the game as they played with precision and remained successful in establishing a comfortable gap until the break.

After the interval, the in-form Russian shuttlers did not lose their focus at any stage and secured the set with a comfortable 21-16 score on the board.

The higher ranked Ivanov and Sozonov emerged as the winners in this semi-final contest with a completely controlled margin of 21-14 and 21-16.
