in different print and electronic media organizations, here at local hotel on Wednesday, December 5th.

The event was arranged in collaboration with Heinrich Boll Foundation (HBS) of Germany. While addressing to the participants, the instructor, Ms. Britta Peterson, Country Director of HBS, emphasized on gender sensitive reporting, urging the journalists to
use their communication media for creating awareness of women rights and sensitizing the civil society to address their problems.

Mr. Omer Aftab, the Chief Executive Officer of WEG also spoke to the gathering. Highlighting various aspects of the WRCP, he urged the journalists to focus on eliminating gender discrimination from society and empowering women to fight for their basic rights.

He said, “Media gives temporary attention towards women issues but there is no follow up. There is a need to develop conducive environment to practice gender sensitive reporting. Awareness program should be designed to change mindsets.

In collaboration with the HBS, the WRCP has developed and trained a core group of female journalists, enabling them to work actively and effectively for women rights. At the end of the workshop, certificates were presented to the female journalists. Training
