AFC join hands with UEFA for footballing progress

The Asian Football Confederation have chosen to unite with their European counterparts in order to promote the beautiful game.

Areas such as education, training, technical development and refereeing, as well as promotion of grassroots and youth football will be the main talking points for the agreement, with AFC’s acting President Zhang Jilong claiming that both parties will benefit from the decision to join hands.

UEFA President Michel Platini was quick to hail ‘Asia as the future’ and claimed that even his confederation could learn much from the Asians, who made significant progress in women’s football and marketing tactics being deployed.

Asia has made some magnificent strides in the past few years in order to strenghten their case for a FIFA World Cup triumph. The state of power has been transferred to sides such as Japan and South Korea, whose showings in South Africa 2010 were a great testament to the improvement of the game.

Japan managed to reach the quarter-finals and with players such as Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa in their midst, it’s no wonder that they are currently reigning on top of Asian football. However, it remains to be seen whether the latest implementations from the AFC allow the likes of Pakistan and India to prosper whether it is through greater financial aid or development of facilities.
