Team Garmin-Barracuda optimistic for the season ahead

After a mixed 2012 season, the American side, Team Garmin is positive to start the new season on a high-note.

With inclusion some of the top cycling stars on its squad including, Christian Vande Velde, Tom Danielson and David Zabriskie, the team is aiming high for the season ahead.

The team has decided to add the mentioned three cyclists after they were initially banned by UCI for their involvement with Lance Armstrong doping scandal.

The ban limit finished in March and the cyclists will then move in the team to continue their professional endeavours.

As many as 26 cyclists confessed doping and were given a reduced six-month ban for helping USADA in building a stronger case against the American.

Eleven out of 26 cyclists were Armstrong’s former teammates including Frankie Andreu, Michael Barry, Tom Danielson, Tyler Hamilton, George Hincapie, Floyd Landis, Levi Leipheimer, Stephen Swart, Christian Vande Velde, Jonathan Vaughters and David Zabriskie.
Team’s full roster for the new season include, Jack Bauer, Tom Danielson, Thomas Dekker, Rohan Dennis, Caleb Fairly, Tyler Farrar, Koldo Fernandez de Larrea, Nathan Haas, Ryder Hesjedal, Alex Howes, Robbie Hunter, Andreas Klier, Michel Kreder, Raymond Kreder and Martijn Maaskant.

Dan Martin, David Millar, Lachlan Morton, Ramunas Navardauskas, Nick Nuyens
, Jacob Rathe, Sebastien Rosseler, Peter Stetina, Andrew Talansky, Christian Vande Velde, Johan Vansummeren, Steele VonHoff, Fabian Wegmann and David Zabriskie will also ride through the team in the season ahead.

The team signed Nick Nuyens recently after the cyclist ended his two-year associations with Team Saxo-Tinkoff.

“Nick is a huge talent and we are thrilled that he will be joining Garmin-Barracuda next season,” Team General Manager Jonathan Vaughters said.

“We have wanted to continue to bolster our Classics team, and Nick is obviously a tremendous addition for us”.

“His talent, experience and deep knowledge of these races will be invaluable. We are very happy he chose Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda and we look forward to an exciting season,” he added.

The cyclist himself was enchanted after securing his future with the top World Tour side and noted that the American side is very well structured and is a very good blend of youth and experience.

“The team is well structured, has a super team spirit and it’s just a really strong squad with a good mix of young talent and a lot of experience. I’m looking forward to being a part of it,” he voiced.
