Three Factions Emerge in Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf ahead of Party Elections

The party that always professed unity and changes amongst the party ranks and allowing free and transparent elections within the political organization first before making a move externally is facing a heart breaking divide within itself.

Three factions are believed to have emerged within the party ranks as each group supports their own ideology along with a person that they support. Big money is seen by many workers at each level, influencing their decisions and how some might vote, raising the question on how Imran Khan can expect to award tickets to the common man when the powerful continue to dominate party ranks.

Mehmood-ur-Rashid, a long time President of the Lahore chapter of the party, has broken away with another group, has the support of Javed Hashmi and a number of other veterans, but another group led by Ahsan Rasheed is looking to bring in former Musharraf era minister and real estate tycoon, Abdul Aleem Khan due to having business interests in him being President of the Lahore chapter.

For now, there is no certainty on how the PTI will go about with internal elections with so much disparity within the ranks and with just a few months remaining in the general elections, Imran Khan is yet to award tickets to contestants and delaying that could result in an internal collapse altogether.
