Special Investigation Unit on Saturday arrested Siraj Talpur, one of the suspects in Shahzeb Khan’s murder case from Moro, a city in the Naushero Feroz district of Sindh province.
Shahzeb Khan, a popular student and son of DSP Aurangzaib, was shot dead near his home in Defence last week. The killing resulted from a small argument he had with Talpur, when the latter’s servant verbally harassed his sister.
The cold-blooded murder created panic in civil society, prompting Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice on January 1.
The law enforcement agencies carried out a fierce raiding operation across the country following the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary gave them a deadline of 24 hours to arrest the killers or risk losing their jobs.
The accused, in addition to two others including Imdad and Ghulam Murtaza were apprehended after extensive raids. They will be produced in the country by Monday to seek remand from interrogation.
It is vital to mention here that the main accused in the case, Shahrukh Jatoi is still at large. Some news reports said that he is currently in Dubai in his efforts to evade the law enforcement agencies.
