Shahzeb Khan’s murder case: Police arrest Sikandar Jatoi from Supreme Court premises

Sindh police arrested Sikander Jatoi, father of Shahrukh Jatoi, from the premises of the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Sikandar had appeared before the apex court after acquiring a one-day protective bail from the Lahore High Court (LHC) but the police sought the court’s permission to arrest him.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had questioned what Sikandar was doing in the court and he should instead surrender to the police. He said that no one in the country was above the law.
The apex court also ordered the police to arrest Shahrukh and present him to the court on January 16. Earlier, the court had set today’s deadline for the police to arrest all the suspects in the case but the police have been unable to arrest Shahrukh as he fled to the UAE.
In efforts to arrest Shahrukh, Pakistani authorities cancelled his passports on Thursday hoping that the Dubai government will deport him. The Dubai government has refused to arrest or hand over Shahrukh to Pakistan as there is no extradition treaty between the two countries.
The Pakistani government cancelled both of Shahrukh’s passports and will arrest him at a Pakistani airport when he gets deported.
According to reports, Shahrukh ran off to the UAE after he was nominated as the prime suspect in the FIR of Shahzeb Khan’s murder. A police team from Pakistan went to the UAE to search for him but has been unable to arrest him.
Three other suspects of the case, Siraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur and Murtaza Lashari, are in police custody and have been identified by eyewitnesses for being involved in the murder.
Shahzeb, son of a DSP, was murdered reportedly after he had an altercation with another key suspect Siraj Talpur, whose servant had allegedly given verbal threats to the victim’s sister.
