Swedish International: Patty Stolzenbach beats Sabrina Jaquet in Women’s Singles quarter-final

Netherlands’ upcoming player Patty Stolzenbach showed a wonderful performance on court and outplayed the higher ranked Sabrina Jaquet of Switzerland in Women’s Singles quarter-final at Swedish International Stockholm 2013 in Sweden, on Saturday, January 19.

The un-seeded Stolzenbach, who remained impressively confident throughout the championship, played with staggering speed and remained successful in beating the sixth seeded Sabrina in just 30 minutes.

Dutch shuttler did not show any mercy to her higher ranked Swiss challenger and easily toppled her in straight games with a considerable margin on the score board.

On the other hand, the higher ranked Sabrina tried to continue her victorious run on court but failed to challenge her in-form Dutch challenger at any stage. She went down in an uncharacteristic way in straight sets.

It was an interesting fight in the initial points when Stolzenbach showed attacking display of her skills in the arena. She was very quick and positive on court and remained in commanding position.

The tempo of the rallies was very fast in starting game and Stolzenbach entertained local crowd with her lofty craft. She did not show any respect to Sabrina and made her work hard for every point.

Stolzenbach advanced with a stunning speed in the first half and remained in lead on score board until the break.

The underdog Sabrina could not to create trouble for her rival after the mid-game interval as she lost her focus on court.

Stolzenbach continued hitting powerful strokes in targeted areas and grabbed the first game with a superb margin of 21-16.

Sabrina geared up her speed to play positive badminton in the first half of second game but could not construct pressure on her rival.

The impressive Stolzenbach was in remarkable form and she remained successful in setting up a reasonable gap until the one-minute interval.

Stolzenbach continued putting up superb performance in the second part of second set and remained successful in winning the set with a reasonable 21-17 score on score board.

Dutch shuttler emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles quarter-final contest in straight games with a smashing margin of 21-16 and 21-17.
