Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal should focus on its quality – Football news

Arsenal’s boss Arsene Wenger insists that his team should believe more in its quality after they lost 2-1 against their London rivals Chelsea.

The Gunners displayed dismal performance in the opening half against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge which saw them conceding two goals.

Olivier Giroud squandered a chance in the opening five minutes and in the sixth minute, Mata fired a spectacular goal in the net to take his side 1-0 up. Ten minutes later, the Blues received a controversial penalty in which Lampard fired an easy ball in. They were awarded the penalty after Szczesny brought down Chelsea’s midfielder, Ramirez.

Arsenal continued showing dismal performance until the opening half ended. In the second half they came out to be better team. Just after 13 minutes from start of second half, Theo Walcott showed his charm and netted an amazing goal with an assistant from Santi Cazorla. The Gunners showed brilliant defensive and attacking skills but failed to grab the equaliser after squandering several chances.

Arsenal’s tactician, Wenger was quoted in the post match press conference after losing the match:

“Tactically we changed some things. Psychologically I felt we were more on the front foot. We had a similar start to Man City last week – didn’t really go for it, didn’t really defend well and gave too much room to Chelsea. On top of that, I feel we were a bit unlucky because it was a free kick on the first goal and it was not a penalty on the second goal. We were a bit unlucky. We didn’t play well in the first half. In the second half we came out with a different spirit, a different attitude and were much more dangerous and dominated the whole second half.”
