Arsenal crush West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium – Football News

Gunners unleashed flurry of goals in a 10-minute span in the second half, which saw their local rivals suffer 5-1 defeat. They had a dismal start but stayed focused and eventually triumphed over their fellow Londoners at the Emirates Stadium.

The Hammers made a convincing start and after 18 minutes, they took the lead when Jack Collison fired a goal when Reid won a corner.

However, after just four minutes, Arsenal showed his class when Lukas Podolski fired the equaliser with a superb drive from 25 yards.

The match was dragged with the similar score line towards the end of the first half.

Just three minutes after the second half started, Theo Walcott delivers to Olivier Giroud who netted the ball in and let the home side take lead.

Five minutes after this, Santi Cazorla marked his presence after receiving the ball from Podolski.

In the very next minute, Podolski penned down another assist and led Walcott fired the ball in the net.

In the 57th minute, Giroud managed to hit his second goal and took the Gunners to an unassailable 5-1 lead.

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, praised his team after their spectacular performance, “Yes, we got a good response. I felt that having watched the game again against Chelsea that our second half was very interesting. In the continuity we played alright tonight. In the first half we controlled the game but West Ham were dangerous on the counter-attack and from set-pieces. We got punished.”

The Frenchman praised Podolski on his exceptional performance,

“He had an outstanding game tonight. He scored a very important goal. He has an unbelievable shot because the keeper had no chance. After he gave of course two great balls as well. What is new for us is that we scored on a corner! It was a bit unusual.”

Arsenal will next take on Liverpool FC on 30th January at their home ground.
