National Team camp stars in Lahore – report

Pakistan’s best footballers will assemble at the Punjab Stadium today, as they look to prepare for the upcoming friendlies with Maldives and Nepal.

“The foreign players will arrive on Tuesday. Milosavljevic seems to have convinced the players to come to the training camp,” PFF secretary Col Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi said while talking to reporters.

“We wanted to give the team a good opportunity and proper exposure before they play in the Challenge Cup qualifiers. We were in talks with Nepal and Maldives, and both the countries agreed to host the matches. We are expecting a good result in these international tours as the team has polished their scoring abilities,” added Lodhi.

“This should be the perfect start to the year since both Nepal and Maldives are competitive sides. Foreign players do not show the same level of commitment which is shown by local players. They don’t have the passion for the national team. They come straight into the starting eleven and it doesn’t really help the morale of the local-based players,” former coach Tariq Lutfi was quoted as saying.

Camp Probables: Jaffar Khan (Army), Saqib Hanif, Rizwan Asif, Samar Ishaq, Kamran Khan, Muhammad Adil, Kaleem Ullah, Zia-us-Salam, Yaseer Afridi (all KRL), Mohammad Ahmed (WAPDA), Mohammad Rasool (KESC), Faisal Iqbal (NBP), Mohammad Mujahid (PAF), Naveed Ahmed (Navy), Mohammad Hameed, Saeed Ahmed (Muslim FC), Yousuf Butt (BGA FC/DEN) Yaqoob Butt (Skovshoved IF/DEN), Mohammad Ali (BK Avarta/DEN), Hassan Bashir (Nordvest/DEN); Amjad Iqbal (Bradford Park Avenue FC/ENG) and Shabir Khan (Halesowen Town FC/ENG).

Officials: Zavisa Milosavljevic (Head coach/Manager), Shahzad Anwar (Assistant coach), Aslam Khan (Goalkeeper coach), Kamran Mehdi (Physio) and Bilal Butt (Coordinator).
