Gordi Kosenko paves his path to quarter-finals of 2013 Russian National Championships

Men’s Singles event of Russian National Championships got another quarter-finalist when Gordi Kosenko thrashed Gregory Vorobyov in the second round on January 29, 2013.

This pre quarter-final tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Saratov and it kept both contenders head-t-head for 24 minutes.

Both compatriot shuttlers put a decent show of skills in this short-lived encounter which ended with decisive figures of 21-13 and 21-10.

With this splendid win, Gordi Kosenko alarmed his next challenger Vladimir Malkov and critics are expecting a nerve-racking quarter-final match.

In the second round match, Gordi was bit sluggish in the beginning and it was felt that Gregory will easily pocket the opening match point.

However, Gordi did not take much time to end his bad patch and get back on right track. He tipped the scale in his favour by clinching five consecutive points before the half time. This productive campaign helped him to finish first half of the set with a respectable score.

After the one-minute break, Gordi showed his real class and confounded his competitor with an unbeatable strategy.

At first, he widened the gap on points table by ruling the court in couple of consecutive rallies and then served notice of supremacy with an overwhelming total of 21-13.

The following game brought nothing for Gregory as he could not create any challenge for his rival and remained at the lower end until game point situation.

Meanwhile, Gordi looked completely on song as he proved himself superior technically and tactically. He set the foundation of his authority in the establishing rallies and enjoyed an upper hand all the way to concluding point.

He maintained a significant difference of eleven points and raised hands as victor after putting 21-10 score.
