UAE police arrest Tauqir Sadiq in Dubai

Ex-chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Tauqir Sadiq, who is wanted in mega corruption scandal, has been arrested in Dubai, say media reports.

According to media reports, Sadiq has been taken under arrest in Dubai, UAE by special team of the CID headed by Rana Shahid. The team comprises two senior police officials and one official from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Tauqir Sadiq is currently under the custody of CID team, adding the accused would soon be handed over to the Pakistan’s consulate in Dubai. Moreover, negotiations over his deportation to Pakistan are currently underway with Dubai officials, sources said.

It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued orders for the arrest of Tauqir Sadiq. He is accused of misusing authority, embezzling funds and causing Rs 82 billion losses to the national exchequer.
