Theo Walcott praise his teammates after outclassing Sunderland at the Stadium of Lights – football news

England’s Theo Walcott praised his fellow Gunners after their spectacular display of football skills which saw them outgunning the Black Cats at the Stadium of Lights. With this victory, Arsenal climbed to the fifth spot at the Barclays English Premier League rankings and gained confidence boost ahead of their FA Cup fifth round clash.

The Arsenal striker was delighted with his team performance at the Stadium of Lights where they were able to grab all three points despite Carl Jenkinson’s red card.

With a great effort from Jack Wilshere and Walcott himself, Santi Cazorla scored the only goal of the match in the 35th minute.

Arsenal suffered a setback during warm-up when Laurent Koscielny re-injured his calf and Jenkinson replaced him. In the 62nd minute, Jenkinson received his second yellow card and eventually left the ground. However, with the heroic effort of Szczesny and the Gunners, they were able to record a clean sheet.

“It was an important win,” the England international commented. “The three points have us on a high and we’ve got a nice week now without any midweek game. We’re very confident [of finishing in the top four]. We can battle through any sort of situation. The teams around us are winning as well, but we’ve just got to make sure we look after ourselves and try to win as often as we can.”

Walcott reflected about their upcoming fifth round FA Cup clash against Blackburn Rovers.

“A lot of players are back from international duty and need a bit of a break. Some may be rested for the FA Cup game, but that’s just as important as we want to go far in that competition. If we lost [at Sunderland], we would have been dwelling on it for so long, so I’m glad we didn’t.
