North Korea is allowing foreign citizens to access the Internet through their mobile phones and other devices, as reported by the Japanese public broadcaster, NHK.

Apparently, Pyongyang has agreed to a joint venture after collaborating with Koryolink-one and one Egyptian-mobile company to allow Internet access for foreign citizens.

A foreign journalist has published a video on the social network Twitter which has been recorded last Monday that shows a foreign citizen using his mobile phone to connect to Internet.

On 7 January, the government uplifted the ban on foreigners entering the country with their mobile phones, thus forcing them to change to join an official register, according to the Chinese news agency, Xinhua.

So far, foreign citizens were forbidden to use the telecommunications network and people have been forced to leave their mobile phones in the Bureau of Customs on entry into North Korean territory.

About 1.8 million people use mobile phones but they could use it to make international calls or connect to the Internet, according to estimates by Xinhua.
