China’s premium male shuttler Chen Jin stretched his winning streak in Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships and qualified for the quarter-finals on March 7, 2013.
He faced a compatriot player Chen Yuekun and this tussle prolonged to 31 minutes before ending with final figures of 21-10 and 21-10.
This Men’s Singles match was played at the local badminton complex of Birmingham and a decent number of badminton lovers assembled to encourage both contenders.
World Number five Chen Jin, who also holds fifth spot in the tournament ranking, did not find any trouble in sealing a straight-set victory.
He showed his intentions straight away in the establishing rallies of first set when he bagged many valuable points without any interruption. He capitalised this initial lead in next couple of rallies and doubled his total in no time.
The inexperienced Chinese shuttler Chen Yuekun was not prepared for such an intensive attack and he remained at the lower end until half time.
Meanwhile, Chen Jin kept his opponent busy just in returning his masterly crafted strokes and piled up a significant total before interval.
Latter part of the game was also dominated by the higher ranked Chinese campaigner and he registered an overwhelming score of 21-10.
The following game proved just a replay of previous one as Chen Jin did not his competitor even a single counterattack opportunity and sent him packing with a staggering knock.
Initially, he played with a cautious approach but then the third quarter of the set saw him playing aggressive badminton.
He widened the gap on points table and raised hand as victor after putting 21-10 margin on the board.
With this win, Chen Jin setup his quarter-final clash with Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark.
