China’s impressive shuttler Chen Long continued his winning streak and grabbed Men’s Singles title after defeating the top seeded Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the final encounter of Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships 2013 in Birmingham, on Sunday, March 10.

The World Number Two Long, who was the second seed in main draw of All England Open, won this second title in two back-to-back weeks as he also claimed last week’s German Open Gran Prix Gold and now he wrapped up first premier super series title of current year.

Long was in smashing form in the arena as he played with staggering speed and control in his shots and remained aggressive most of the time. He did not let Chong Wei dictate the pace and won the match in straight sets with a decent 21-17 and 21-18 score on the board.

On the other hand, the World Number One and top seeded Chong Wei could not find a good flow throughout the match. He failed to play positive badminton and remained struggling in the whole battle. He eventually lost the title match in straight sets without creating a strong impact.

The Chinese played dominating badminton from the starting points of the opening game and he remained successful in creating a strong pressure on his higher ranked opponent at the initial stage.

Long continued working hard and keep manipulating all loopholes of his challenger all the way until the mid-game interval where he was leading the game with a comfortable difference on the board.

Chinese shuttler continued putting up spectacular show of top quality badminton after the break and he remained successful in wrapping up the opening game with a reasonable total of 21-17.

In the second game, Chong Wei tried to pace up the tempo of rallies but failed to create pressure on his spirited Chinese challenger and remained struggling in the arena.

Meanwhile, Long continued playing with aggression and he did not lose at any stage. He did not miss any chance of winning points and took a wonderful lead until the break.

Chong Wei played slightly better badminton after the one-minute interval and remained successful in making the score levelled.

However, the Malaysian failed to maintain his rhythm in the ending points of second game where the Chinese shuttler again started to dominate the pace.

The score was 18-18 when Long played staggering badminton and grabbed three consecutive points to finish up the set with a reasonable margin of 21-18 and sealed off straight-set victory in this final match.
