Mohammad Hafeez questions the ethics of Pakistan’s media

Extremely disappointed at the rumours of his rift with the Test and One Day International (ODI) captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, the all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez, has questioned the work-ethics of the Pakistani media and urged the reporters to behave responsibly.

After a disastrous performance in the three-match Test series against South Africa, multiple private television channels in Pakistan claimed that Misbah and Hafeez are having massive differences, which are adversely affecting the team’s performance.

Some of the sports journalists reported that the captain wants Hafeez to bat at number three; whereas, the right-hander is not willing to vacate the opening slot.

While speaking to a private television channel, the all-rounder out-rightly rejected the news and expressed that he shares extra-ordinary relations with Misbah. The T20 skipper also made it clear that he is ready to bat at any number for the interest of the country.

“There is no rift whatsoever between me and Misbah. All the rumours of a rift are fake and a disgrace for our country,” Hafeez mentioned. “Misbah is just like my elder brother and both of us enjoy a very good working relationship. I am ready to bat at any number.”

Having comprehensively won the only T20 played on the tour, Pakistan failed to make an impression in the first ODI of the five-match series at Bloemfontein, with the second match scheduled to be played at Centurion on Friday.

The cricketer from Sargodha further added that he is a complete team man and a proof of that is his demotion in the batting order in the T20 format, allowing two budding youngsters to flourish.

Hafeez believes that irresponsible reporting creates confusion among the general public and the families of the players, advising the media to show some maturity.

“I sacrificed/gave up on my opening slot for Ahmed and Nasir, which goes to show my loyalty. I urge the reporters not to reports on assumptions, but to run breaking news on receiving proofs. We play abroad and stay far away from our families. They get worried and hurt by all these rumours and try to contact us,” Pakistan’s T20 skipper added.
