Enjoy perks, then change loyalty: Gabol joins MQM

Sunday, March 17th, 2013 10:41:49 by

As a new tradition to enjoy perks and privileges for years and then change loyalties, senior PPP leader and Nabil Gabol, ex-MNA, joined the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday.

Most regrettably the MQM also embraced a man, ignoring its own claim of clean politics but accepting vested interest for political motives.

Gabol had no chance to get PPP ticket from the party’s stronghold of Lyari in the coming elections and that may be the main reason of ending his 25-year affiliation with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Gabol visited the MQM headquarters Nine-Zero in Karachi and announced his decision and described Nine-Zero as his second home. “Now I’m saying goodbye to the PPP to join the MQM,” he said.

Gabol said that the current PPP is not Benazir Bhutto’s party, the fact he should have said earlier when he was enjoying life as the ruling party MP.

He claimed that the PPP ignored his constituency Lyari in five years and destroyed it. “For three years, I took a stand and warned the party leadership that the situation of Lyari is like a time-bomb which will affect the entire city in the future… But no one listened to me,” he added.

Gabol came up with a new logic that he remained an MNA for five years because Benazir Bhutto his awarded him the ticket and he wanted to show loyalty to her.

How some political leaders try to make the people fool by such words like Gabol’s strange remarks.

The MNAs from Lyari had turned blind eyes to the people there and when the rangers and police conducted operations. Gabol had also been missing and silent over what had happened in Lyari.

The sad aspect of the whole episode is MQM’s welcoming Gabol in their ranks. There is no difference in the MQM and other parties who do not care about principles and just involved in the game of politics.

Altaf Hussain was also very happy as they need people from other ethnic communities to dispel the impression that the group is not only of Urdu-speaking people.

Gabol was elected from a seat in the Lyari constituency in the 2008 elections with a big margin.

during a recent talk show where there was Nabil Gabol and he told the host that he would train Bilawal and not leave the party whatever happened but a shocking news to hear but this is surely a move for political gains.
