Different reports are coming that the San Francisco Giants and catcher Buster Posey’s agent are busy talking on a mega deal, possibly on an extension to his contract.

“Our view of Buster is that he’ll be reasonable,” Giants CEO Larry Baer said. “We’ve thrown some things out. They’ve thrown some things out. It’s going to be more evolved over time. It’s not a ‘check back in two weeks, we may have something’ kind of thing.”

Baer added, “Buster knows he’s going to be a Giant for the next four years, at least, There isn’t that kick of, ‘Come October, I might be changing uniforms.’ He’s not changing uniforms.”

Later, said Jeff Berry, Posey’s agent, “Certainly, no one is perfect, and Buster is no exception, But the thing that makes Buster so appealing to people is that he represents many of the same qualities we all aspire to. And the great thing is it’s not an image. It’s what he is.”

The 25-year old had a very good season with World Series Champions in which he also played a vital role hitting with bat with an average of .336 along with 24 home runs, 103 RBIs and .408 OBP.

“First and foremost, the reason you have those opportunities is your success on the field. So I think it’s one of those things where you have to be smart. I feel I have a good agency in CAA that can manage it, because you don’t want to be spread too thin. Your main focus is still, obviously, being prepared and ready to go each day when you come to the ballpark,” Posey said.

He certainly was exceptional behind the plate and appreciation from the entire Giants roster. He was confident and remained positive throughout the entire campaign of post season.

His career stats are even consistent than his 2012 MLB numbers. He currently carries .314 hitting average along with 46 home runs, 191 RBIs and .380 OBP. It is possible that the Giants’ have sensed his extraordinary game and want to give him a long contract with the team.

The Giants’ have also evaluated his last season and overall career performances before offering him potential extension on his existing contract. Next few days will be critical, when Buster Posey’s possible new deal will come out in the media.
