Hazar Khan Khoso takes oath as caretaker PM

President Asif Ali Zardari will administer oath of office to Justice (r) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso as caretaker Prime Minister later Monday at the ‘Aiwan-e-Sadr’, presidential spokesman has said.

 

Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that invitations have been sent out to the ceremony among others to heads of all political parties represented in the Parliament.

 

Khoso, a former judge, was named as the interim Prime Minister by the Election Commission on Sunday to supervise the May 11 parliamentary elections.

 

The caretaker Prime Minister says that he will have a small cabinet of about 12 people and that he will go home if failed to hold elections on time.

 

He also vowed to conduct elections in a way that they are remembered as the highly transparent. Khoso said he would meet all political parties and elections would be held on time.

 

About maintenance of law and order during elections‚ he said he would talk to the provinces and ensure that elections are held in a peaceful environment.

 

Khoso name was picked up by the Election Commission of Pakistan from among four candidates after two days of deliberations in Islamabad.

 

He was one of the two nominees of the former ruling Pakistan Peoples Party.

 

Mir Hazar Khan Khoso‚ 84‚ was born in village Azam Khan of district Jaffarabad of Balochistan.
