Arsenal overpower CSKA Moscow to reach semis in the NextGen Series – Football News

Arsenal youngsters showed brilliant football skills and eventually outclassed CSKA Moscow at the NextGen Series. They recorded a 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium and advanced into the semi-finals at this youngsters’ event.

Terry Burton’s side displayed brilliant skills at this under-19 tournament. They managed to create many chances and showed great defensive skills. Serge Gnabry founded a chance in the fifth minute but squandered. The opening half went goal less with both sides finding a breakthrough.

In the 56^th minute, Gnabry netted the only goal of the match and led his side to glory. The German forward played a one-two with Hector Bellerin before scoring this spectacular goal.

The delighted Burton was quoted in an interview to Arsenal.com:

“I am delighted for the players because I thought they put in an excellent performance, and also delighted for the Club and supporters who turned out on a very cold night. I am sure they will have enjoyed the game.”

Burton went on to praise the 17-year-old German by stating:

“It was a real moment of class, he manufactured the position well and was very positive in his movement – it was a great finish.”

In the last 16 battle, Arsenal recorded a 1-0 victory against Inter Milan. Burton made two changes from the time which worked. He placed in Kyle Ebecilio and Thomas Eisfeld instead of Elton Monteiro and Zak Ansah respectively.

Arsenal will next take on their local rivals Chelsea in the semi-finals at Lake Como, Italy on Friday.

Burton reflected about his side’s next match-up:

“It was about getting through this game, and getting into the semi-finals, which we have achieved. Now we have another game against a top-quality side in Chelsea, who surprisingly we haven’t met at under-18 or under-21 level this year.”
