Major League Baseball Update/ News

The Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Zack Greinke has recently told some media personals that he is very much sure on his potential start of 2013 Major League Baseball season on time.

Greinke suffered a slight injury in the recent past offseason with right elbow soreness.

“I should be. I think so, I’ll definitely be there, if I can build up endurance. I need some improvement,” Greinke said with confidence.

“I felt strong, but obviously not if I’m walking three in a row. That’s not normal if I’m feeling good,” said Greinke, whose first Dodgers Spring Training was interrupted by the flu, then inflammation in the back of his right elbow that required an injection and cost him much of the month. “I thought I felt good, but the results didn’t imply that.”

He added, “My offspeed was bad today, My fastball was OK [90-94 mph]. There’s a lot that needs to be improved. My fastball wasn’t great, the offspeed was below OK. The changeup was good. That’s one positive. The main thing was the offspeed was so bad, they didn’t have to worry about it.”

Greinke played for Los Angeles Angels before he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He agreed to a six year $147 million contract with the Dodgers management and hoped for a new beginning with a new franchise.

“I can’t get a real judge on the fastball because there was nothing else to worry about. This tells me I’ve got some work to do to build up arm strength and fine-tune the offspeed stuff. If my arm strength is there, I can make it work, Everything is different, Even the Minor guys that had been in the big leagues had a presence about them,” said Greinke.

It is a good sign that Greinke is getting better and roaring for playing on Opening Day. He is a good player and considered one of the very best starters in the Major League.

Last year, he achieved good numbers of 3.48 ERA along with 15-5 win-loss 200 strikeouts and 1.20 WHIP. Overall he also possesses good career numbers of 3.77 ERA along with 91-78 win-loss 1332 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP.
