Suicide bomber kills 12 in Peshawar

A suicide bomber targeting a convoy of security forces near a military check post in Peshawar Friday killed at least 12 people, police and hospital sources said.

The bomber tried to hit convoy of the Frontier Constabulary heading to the nearby headquarters on Fakhr-e-Alam road in sensitive cantonment area of Peshawar, police said.

Witnesses said that windows of some vehicles in the convoy were smashed.

Hospital sources confirmed that 12 people, including two women, died of wounds. They said that 31 injured were admitted in the city’s Lady Reading Hospital.

The army’s offices, governor house, a big shopping center, general post office and railway station are located in the area.

No group claimed responsibility. The authorities blame Taliban for such attacks as they routinely target security forces in their campaign.
