2013 Australian Open: An easy win for Chong Wei in second round of Men’s Singles event

Malaysia’s ace shuttler Lee Chong Wei did not find any trouble in the second round of Yonex Australian Badminton Open and marched into the pre quarter-finals on April 3, 2013.

He was up against a lower ranked Indonesian campaigner Adi Prasojo Andrianus who could stand just for 29 minutes before surrendering with 21-7 and 21-7 scores.

World Number one Chong Wei, who also holds top spot in the tournament ranking, employed all of his brilliance in the game and sealed a splendid straight-set victory.

The badminton king started the beating straight away from the first stroke and played aggressively all the way to final moments.

In first set of the match, the Malaysian maestro unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and dazzled his opponent. He bagged many valuable points without any interruption and piled a decent total.

This productive campaign helped him to keep the opposing shuttler at lower end. He did not give him even a single counterattack opportunity and placed a mountainous figure of 11 before interval.

After the mid-game break, Chong Wei injected more intensity in his attack and thrashed his competitor with an impressive result of 21-7.

The following game was also played in similar manner as the Malaysian ace showed consistency in his performance and locked the honour in a commendable manner.

At first, Chong Wei mounted pressure by clinching many points in a row and then doubled the impact by prevailing in few consecutive rallies.

He did not allow Adi to proceed on the points table and established an unassailable lead in no time. He finished first half of the set with a significant lead and then capitalised this advantage in latter part of the game.

Chong Wei registered a winning margin of 21-7 and earned a spot in the pre quarter-final round of Australian Open.
