2013 Major League Baseball Regular Season First Half – News/ Updates

The Chicago White Sox humiliated the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, April 03 when they defeated them in the second consecutive game of the 2013 Major League Baseball season opening three-match series at their home field in Chicago at U.S. Cellular Field.

The 31-year old, Jake Peavy took the responsibility to pitch in this game as he did his job with a wonderful spell of six innings giving only four hits and two runs on his brilliant 1.50 ERA. He also struck out six batters and stood tall against the entire Royals’ top order.

“I love their team,” Peavy said. “I love their makeup. I love their manager. They have a great team. They have a great bunch of guys, and they play hard. That team is scrappy. They don’t strike out much. … It’s nice to come out (against) a team that’s had our number as a team and play well.”

He added, “I don’t wake up every day worrying about my body holding together, But at the same time, I do a lot of preventive work to try to hold everything intact the way it is now and stay as strong as I did last year.”

Later in the game, the Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura also talked about Royals’ overall unit. He said, “They’re a good team, I don’t think they’re going to lay down.”

On the other hand, the Royals pitchers were ordinary on the mound. They all except starter Ervin Santana could not play well and were hammered hard by the White Sox’s offensive hitters.

Santana pitched first six innings and maintained his composure when he struck out eight White Sox’s batters. Though he was hit with five hits but overall he remained the only Royals’ pitcher who wanted to win this particular game.

“Everything was good,” Santana said. “My off-speed was very good. My sinker was good. Fastball was good.”

Not only just pitchers, the White Sox’s hitters were also exceptional as they all contributed in their team’s win. Designated hitter Adam Dunn batted three times and scored two runs on two hits along with a RBI on .714 slugging percentage.
