Lindaweni Fanetri ousts Yui Hashimoto in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at Australian Badminton Open

Indonesia’s experienced player Lindaweni Fanetri continued her winning run and reached into Women’s Singles quarter-final after defeating Japan’s Yui Hashimoto in round-of-16 battle at Yonex Australian Badminton Open 2013 at Sydney, on Thursday, April 4.

The Indonesian shuttler, who is the top seed in this tournament, showed her impressive class on court as she played with impressive confidence and showed exit to her un-seeded Japanese rival while consuming just 39 minutes on court.

Fanetri had to struggle at the initial stage in the opening set but she soon found a good flow and remained successful in beating Hashimoto in straight games with a considerable total of 21-16 and 21-9.

Hashimoto, on the contrary, played good badminton in the opening rallies of the match but she failed to play aggressive badminton in the ending half. In the second game, she was completely helpless against the power play of her rival and lost the match with a reasonable margin.

In the opening set, both ladies played with impressive speed and precision and entertained the crowd with the incredible skills.

The score progressed closely and both shuttlers could not build up a considerable lead at the initial stage. They continued played positive badminton and stayed close on the board until the one-minute interval.

After the break, the battle continued in the similar interesting fashion as both ladies were at their best. They continued playing positive badminton until the score reached at 15-15.

At this crucial stage, the top seeded Fanetri geared up her speed in all areas of the court and started to control the affairs of the game. She continued playing aggressive and positive badminton and won the opening game with a 21-16 score on the board.

In the following set, Fanetri did not lose her concentration at any stage in the starting half as she remained fully focused on court and built a wonderful lead until the one-minute interval.

After the mid-game break, the lofty Fanetri stayed calm and composed on court in the arena and she easily wrapped up the second game with a staggering 21-9 score on the board.
