Sophia Batchelor and Kate Godfrey win gold medals – NZ Open Championships

Sophia Batchelor and Kate Godfrey won gold medals of the Women’s 100m butterfly and 200m Individual Medley (IM) respectively at the 2013 NZ Open Championships.

Batchelor faced strong contest from her foregoing finisher and cruised her way towards the wall for first position with an effort of 58.84 seconds.

The champion was traced by Samantha Lee, who stayed 1.01 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall for silver medal with the timing of 59.85 seconds.

The silver medallist was followed by Laura Quilter, who stayed full body length behind and hit the wall for bronze medal with the timing of 1 minute and 00.74 seconds.

Quilter was chased by Helena Gasson, who remained more than half a body length behind and finished fourth in the race with the timing of 1 minute and 01.47 seconds.

Fifth best spot of the race was obtained by Lauren Coetzee, who stayed one and a half body length behind and posted an effort of 1 minute and 02.93 seconds.

On the other hand, Godfrey occupied gold medal of 200m IM. Godfrey enjoyed a lead of one stroke over her following swimmer and cruised her way towards the finishing end for gold medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 17.87 seconds.

The first position holder was trailed by Natasha Lloyd, who stayed 0.22 seconds behind and finished second in the race with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.09 seconds.

The second finest swimmer was traced by Emily McGill, who remained 0.40 seconds away from her former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.49 seconds.

Fourth best position of the swim was secured by Helena Gasson, who was three and a half body lengths behind and settled on the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.82 seconds.

Fifth spot of the event was obtained by Caitlin Rennell, who remained nearly 0.80 seconds behind and posted a time of 2 minutes and 23.41 seconds.

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
