Xue Song tames Vivian Joshua Washington in Men’s Singles first round of New Zealand Badminton Open

China’s talented player Xue Song showed a great performance in Men’s Singles first round where he easily tamed Vivian Joshua Washington, a local player, at the SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open 2013 at Auckland, on Wednesday, April 10.

The un-seeded Song, who has improved his skills in all departments of the game, showed a greater level of maturity in his game and he easily overpowered his local opponent in just 18 minutes in a completely one-sided manner.

Chinese man was complete command of the game throughout the battle and he did not show even a slight amount of mercy to his rival. He played positive and attacking game and finished off the match in straight sets with a staggering 21-3 and 21-4 score on the board.

Meanwhile, the local shuttler Vivian Joshua tried to put up strong show but he gave up as his Chinese challenger was too strong to handle. He remained struggling all the way and crashed out without playing positive badminton.

In the first game, the lofty Song showed a phenomenal feat in the arena as he played with commanding control from initial points. The tempo of the rallies was very fast in first set and Song impressed local fans with his lofty skills.

Until the one-minute interval, the impressive Song was leading the game with a comfortable difference as he did not let his challenger to narrow the gap at any stage.

The underdog Vivian Joshua could not change things around after the one-minute interval as he failed to play aggressive badminton and also lost his focus in the arena.

Song continued executing powerful smashes in targeted areas and eventually took the first set with an incredible 21-3 total on the board.

Vivian Joshua was again in problem in the second game as he faced a punishing treatment from his rival who was at his best in the arena.

Until the one-minute break, the lofty Song continued playing with command and variations and remained ahead on the board.

In the concluding part of second game, the incredible Song continued his comfortable ride and easily clinched the second set by a huge difference of 21-4.
