Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who will lead Pakistan following his party’s victory in elections, Monday said he has invited Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh to attend his oath taking ceremony.

The PML-N has secured comfortable position in the May 11 elections and is now consulting with his close aides to form the government in the center.

Indian Prime Minister Sunday congratulated Nawaz Sharif over his party’s election victory and also invited him for a visit to India.

Sharif, who has twice served as Pakistan Prime Minister, says that he will try to resolve all disputes with India through negotiations.

In his statement, Singh said India is ready to work with the new government of Pakistan in charting a new course for relationship between the two countries. He also invited Nawaz to visit India at a mutually convenient time.

The PML-N leader had earlier told Indian NDTV in Lahore that he will visit India whether Delhi invites him or not.

He said he will revive relations with India from the position they were in 1999, when then army chief, Pervez Musharraf, dismissed his elected government.

“I would like to invite the Indian Prime Minister to Pakistan for during the oath taking ceremony,” the Pakistan’s would-be Prime Minister told foreign media in Lahore on Monday.

On relations with the United States, he said will hold talks with the United States over the controversial drone campaign in Pakistan’s tribal regions as they are against the sovereignty of Pakistan. He was confident to convince Washington to stop drone attacks.

Replying to questions about terrorism, which has claimed 50,000 lives in the country over the past 11 years, Mr Sharif said that he will develop a national policy to tackle terrorism.

He said he will seek cooperation of other parties to find out solution to terrorism and the law and order situation in parts of the country.

Sharif expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the general elections and urged other parties to accept mandate of their rivals.
