A bomb blast on a bus of a women university in Quetta city killed at least 11 students and injured several others on Saturday, police and rescue team said.
The bomb was attached to the bus and the device exploded when the bus was standing at the parking, a police officer and the college administration said.
According to police sources the bomb exploded when the students were boarding in the bus for their homes. After the explosion the bus caught fire and completely destroyed.
The bus of the government’s Sardar Bahadar Women Khan University was destroyed in the blast.
The 17 injured students were taken to local hospitals. Several injured were registered critical.
No group claimed responsibility.
Meanwhile‚ another blast was occurred in the causality department of Bolan Medical Complex where the injured of the bus blast were being treated.
Firing was also reported after the blast. There was no immediate report of any casualty in the second blast.
Sources said that the blast in hospital occurred when the Balochistan chief secretary was visiting the injured in hospital. He however left before the blast.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the blast targeting girl students’ bus.
Terming the bomb blast cowardly and inhuman, the Prime Minister prayed for the departed souls and fast recovery of the injured.
The Prime Minister said that such dastardly acts of cruelty on innocent Pakistani citizens are unacceptable and no effort will be spared to save Pakistan from such acts of terror.
Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Maalik also condemned the blast. He said culprits will be brought to book.
