Pakistan military said Wednesday that Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing into its areas along the Line of Control, which divides the two countries in the disputed Kashmir region.

Military officials said, “The Indian troops resorted to unprovoked small arms and artillery firing at Line of Control in Battal and Neza Pir sectors at 10:20 a.m.”

They said exchange of fire still continues. The officials did not say anything about casualties.

Local media however reported that a woman was killed and four people were injured in the Indian firing.

Pakistani and Indian troops recently involved in exchange of heavy fire and artillery shells despite a ceasefire agreement in 2003.

Both routinely accuse each other of ceasefire violation.

In January this year skirmishes between armies of two nuclear neighbors claimed lives of three Pakistani and two Indian soldiers.

Pakistan and Indian have fought three wars since their independence in 1947 including two over Kashmir, the Himalayan region divided between India and Pakistan.

Pakistan last week said that two Indian fighter jets violated its airspace in Punjab province and stayed for two minutes over Pakistani territory.
