Nawaz Sharif, Chinese President pledge to take Pak-China friendship to new heights

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday met with Chinese President Xi Jinping Thursday in Beijing and during the meeting both the leaders pledged to carry forward their all weather friendship to new heights.

 

        

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that it is an honour for him to visit China.

        

The Prime Minister said that, in fact, Premier Li Keqiang, during a recent visit to Islamabad, had expressed the desire for him to pick China for his first foreign visit and added that he had accepted his invitation.

        

The Prime Minister informed the Chinese President that Pakistan was faced with numerous challenges. He further added that puling Pakistan’s economy from its current state of stagnation is an uphill task.

       

The Prime Minister said that the gigantic nature of these challenges notwithstanding he and his team will not only overcome these challenges with commitment and determination and will also put Pakistan on the path of progress and development.

 

The Prime Minister said that he is fully cognizant of internal security situation prevailing in Pakistan and expressed his resolve to address the economic challenge in tandem with internal and regional security issues.

      

“Failure is not an option for him and he believes that China will stand by its friend and neighbor –Pakistan”, said the Prime Minister.

       

During the meeting, the Chinese President recalled his meeting with the Prime Minister in 2010.

The Chinese President added that he has great and happy memories of that meeting.

       

President Xi said that Chinese government and people are proud that Mr Sharif has chosen China as the first country to visit overseas. Pakistan, he said, is a great country and Chinese have enormous love and affection for it.

     

He expressed the hope that the present visit will prove to be a success as a lot of homework had been done on both the sides.

      

He further expressed the hope that this visit would result into tangible outcomes in the days to come with the implementation of projects and strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
