China worried about nationals’ security in Pakistan: Nawaz Sharif
Sunday, July 7th, 2013 3:03:56 by Tahir KhanPrime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Sunday said Chinese authorities are worried for the safety of their citizens in Pakistan and he has assured them that his government will provide foolproof security to them.
Talking to newsmen in Guangzhou‚ he said his talks with the Chinese leadership remained highly beneficial and productive.
The Prime Minister said his government will further strengthen friendship between Pakistan and China.
He said Gwadar-Kashgar economic corridor is an important milestone in the history of Pak-China friendship and we will ensure its completion as early as possible. He said this project will benefit three billion people in the region.
Nawaz Sharif said Karachi-Lahore motorway is another important project signed during his visit.
The Prime Minister said he has held useful talks with Chinese companies for setting up underground railway in Karachi and running fast train between Peshawar and Karachi.
He said the gap in supply and demand of electricity in the country has tremendously increased and the load shedding is affecting industrial‚ agricultural and business sectors.
He said his visit has been much successful to woo Chinese companies to investment in power sector in Pakistan to overcome the energy crisis.
Nawaz Sharif said his government is making all out efforts to overcome the energy crisis. However‚ some tough decisions will have to be made to steer the country out of this crisis and his government will not hesitate to do so.
To a question‚ he said the Diamir incident of killing foreign tourists has tarnished Pakistan’s image abroad and he does not see foreign mountaineers coming to Pakistan in a large number now.
The Prime Minister said the security and intelligence agencies as well the people will have to work in unison to uproot the menace of terrorism in the country.
