India violates LoC ceasefire, fires at Pakistani areas

Indian troops Saturday violated the 2003 ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) and fired at Pakistani areas, official sources and residents said.

They said Indian forces resorted to unprovoked shelling in the Bajwat Sector of Sialkot. Pakistani forces returned fire and silenced Indian guns, official sources said.

The sources added that ceasefire violations by Indian troops continued unabated in different sectors of the LoC.

Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majeed says 15 innocent Kashmiris have been killed due to unprovoked shelling by the Indian forces across the Line of Control.

The nuclear rivals have been in tense relations since August 6 when five Indian soldiers were ambushed and killed while on a patrol near the Kashmir border.

Pakistan and India had declared a ceasefire in 2003. However, Indian troops routinely violate the agreement that has caused tensions.
