Mamnoon Hussain to take oath as Pakistan’s 12th President

President-elect Mamnoon Hussain will take oath as Pakistan’s 12th President at a ceremony at Presidency later on Monday.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will administer the oath.

The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, ministers, MPs, political leaders, diplomats and senior military leaders.

Mamnoon Hussain was elected with an overwhelming majority in the July 30th Presidential elections as PML-N nominee.

The seventy-three years old Mamnoon Hussain is a businessman turned politician.

He studied at the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi.

Mamnoon Hussain remained Governor of Sindh from 19th June‚ 1999 to 12th October 1999.

He replaces Asif Ali Zardari who stepped down on Sunday on completion of his five-year term.

Zardari became the country’s first President to step down and transfer power to an elected President. Hours after he stepped down, he spoke to few thousands of his PPP’s supporters in Lahore to formally enter politics.
