National Assembly condemns Church attack

The parliament late Monday passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning the heinous and inhuman attack at Church in Peshawar in which more than 81 precious lives including women and children lost and caused injuries to 137 others.

 

 

The resolution was moved by Law Minister Zahid Hamid which said the attack was not only against Christian but against all Pakistanis.

 

It expressed solidarity with the Christian community and sympathized with the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of the injured.

 

The resolution demanded of the government in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to take all necessary measures to safeguard the rights of the non-Muslims.

 

The resolution stressed that all possible facilities should be provided to the injured and security to worship places of all the non-Muslims and take steps to bring the perpetrators of this incident to justice.

 

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly‚ Syed Khursheed Shah described the incident as national tragedy. “We should not indulge on political point scoring on this occasion and face the challenge unitedly.”

 

He assured Opposition’s cooperation to the government at all levels to eliminate terrorism in the country.

 

Former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said it was not an attack on any community or group‚ it was an attack on Pakistanis. He said efforts should be made to isolate irreconcilable elements from those who want peace.

 

An opposition member Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said his party will stand with the nation to curb terrorism in the country.

 

Sahibzada Tariqullah of Jamaat-e-Islami urged the Government to start dialogue with Taliban as soon as possible.

 

Pashtoon nationalist leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said the country stands at dangerous crossroad and the lawmakers have to restructure the society to protect it.

 

Former Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali condemned the big tragedy occurred in a Peshawar Church yesterday.

    Pakistani govt. is double faced, get money from Americans, turn around and use it against them, use the same funds to help Taliban, export Terrorism, to kill the Westerners and Christians who support and feed them! such a grateful and Peaceful religion! Bin Laden was housed by Pak Army and Pak Govt for years, to export terrorism. American money sent to feed the starving Pakistanis were used by the Pak govt. for terrorism and to support Taliban, eventually to cut the hands that feed them! Ungrateful bunch!
