MNA Sumaira Malik

PML-N MNA Sumaira Malik was declared ineligible on Monday by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on account of a fake degree, according to Geo News.

The verdict, which was reserved on October 09, 2013, was announced a three-member bench, including Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

The ruling in the case was reserved after Malik Umar Aslam Awan filed a civil appeal against the verdict of the High Court in regards to the case against the MNA. The court has declared the 2008 notification, which deemed her successful, as null and void.

The PML-N MNA, who was elected from NA-69, Khushab district in Punjab in 2008, was represented by Barrister Iftikhar Gilani while Hamid Khan Advocate represented the applicant, Umar Aslam Awan.
