ISLAMABAD: Red Bull organized a three-day futsal event in Islamabad and Falcon FC were the ones who managed to win the trophy on Sunday night.

It all started on Friday when 36 teams from the twin cities competed against each other in a futsal fiesta which took place in ICAS, G-11, Islamabad.

Falcon FC started their first game with four people since their defender, Hassan Butt, ran into a problem and could not show up at all. The rules stated that the team had to start the game without a player and it was all up to Taha Bin Tahir, Ahmad Saeed Butt, Hamza and Daniyal Mumtaz Kiani, to take care of the situation.

The first game, against Team Bring It, was easily won by the Boys in Blue and their next fixture was to take place on Saturday. While other major teams from Islamabad were getting eliminated, Falcon FC paved their way through to the next round.

Saturday’s game saw Hassan Butt returning to the team as Falcon boasted a five-man squad for the first time. However, Hassan Butt’s handball in front of the goal saw him getting red carded as he remained on the pitch for 30 seconds only. Come Backers FC had a man’s advantage against Falcon FC but they simply could not put their five men to good use and soon Ahmad Saeed Butt and Co. were able to score five goals to knock the other team out.

The tournament continued on Sunday, where the finalists had to play three games in a single night. The first match for Falcon FC was against Jangoes FC, and the winner was to take on a strong looking Highlanders FC.

The Blues were yet again at their best as they won the pre-quarter final against Jangoes FC, who re-entered the tournament through Wild Card.

Falcon’s quarter final fixture was against Highlanders FC, who were also the favourites to win the competition. After helping his side pick a draw in the dying moments of the game, Ahmad Saeed Butt later won a one-on-one against Waleed and helped Falcon FC pave their way through into the semi-final of the tournament.

The semi-final game was against Ligament Chargers, who were expected to beat Falcon FC easily. However, Butt and Co. were yet again on their toes and managed to win the match 3-0, knocking the I-8 locals out of the competition.

The stage was set for the final match, which did not deliver as much as it promised. The match took place between Falcon FC and V3L3 United and Falcon FC only took 7 minutes to knock out all five players of the opposition side. The highlight of the game was Hassan Butt’s back-heel goal which helped Falcon FC knock the fifth player out.

Falcon FC are now going to travel to Lahore in order to try and claim the ultimate prize of 100,000PKR. However, they’ll have to battle it out against 2 teams from Karachi and 1 team from Lahore in order to win the tournament.
