Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar says Government working on Dialogue with Taliban

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the passport office complex, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan shared that the government was expecting progress in dialogues with the Taliban and good news might come sooner than later.

Nisar also clarified that negotiations were the government’s top priority, which is why no military operation in North Waziristan has been launched. According to him the whole nation and institutions were on the same page when it comes to working against terrorism and extremism in the country.

The Interior Minister also shared that a dialogue process in Balochistan was also underway, headed by the chief minister. Chaudhry Nisar also highlighted the improved law and order scenario in the city of Karachi following the targeted operations. In response to another question he shared that the National Security Police was in its drafting stage and will soon be placed before the Cabinet Committee and the Cabinet to seek approval.

According to other sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has agreed to JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq starting dialogue with the Taliban.

 Samiul Haq was invited for a discussion by the Prime Minister is expected to brief him after his meeting with the Taliban. During a media interview, Samiul Haq shared that he will be working to try and resolve any issues and that the government should refrain from any operations in North Waziristan.
