The Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, will be briefing the cabinet on the policy and will also emphasize on the need for equipping law enforcement with the latest tools and training in order to deal with the growing security threats.

It is also expected that the ministry will ask for a Rs 28 billion grant in order to completely implement the policy, which also includes a proposal to strengthen provincial law enforcement agencies. The policy is said to include three main parts, two of which will be revealed to the public while one will remain secret.

The Interior Minister is also supposed to brief the cabinet on the progress of dialogue efforts with the Taliban and the effects of the recent attacks. Inter-provincial coordination and the ongoing operations against criminals and terrorists in Karachi are also expected to be part of the minister’s briefing.
