Cabinet asks Tehreek-e-Taliban to Cease Fire Unconditionally

The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the National Policy of Internal Security and asked the militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to announce an unconditional ceasefire.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asserted that the writ of the government will stand unchallenged for the protection of the masses regardless of the consequences. He also stressed upon the importance of improving national security to safeguard the lives and properties of the people as well to regain the trust of foreign investors. 

According to the PM, despite the country facing several challenges, the government is making all possible efforts to improve the situation. He shed light on the positive progress of the country’s economy and said, “All necessary steps would be taken to restore peace and put Pakistan on the track to progress and prosperity”.

Mr. Nawaz Sharif also spoke favorably about the energy policy and its positive impact saying, “The supply of electricity and gas has improved compared to the previous year and it was due to better planning and management of the power supply. We are hopeful that conditions will get better in future”.

The PM also informed the cabinet of China’s commitment to invest $50 billion in various projects over the coming five years. “The Chinese investment of $35 billion would be in the power sector including solar, wind and hydel projects,” he said.
