Musharraf Bail

While former President Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer has stated that his client will not be appearing before court without fool-proof security, the prosecution is set to request non-bailable arrest warrants for the former General if he is absent from court today.

According to Musharraf’s lawyer, his client’s security is at risk and he will not attend the hearing without fool-proof measures from the government. The interior ministry has also reportedly been in contact with intelligence agencies, who have revealed that terrorists have support from some people in Musharraf’s security team, and he might be assassinated on route to court or at the location.

The Interior Ministry has also written letters to intelligence and police forces, detailing the threats received against the former President Pervez Musharraf. The ministry stated that the former ruler might be attacked as he travels from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to the special court in order to attend his hearing.

Musharraf is facing charges of treason for his abrogation of the constitution back in 2007. If convicted, the former military ruler of the country can be looking at the death penalty. However, his hearings have been postponed multiple times now due to security threats.
