According to the latest reports, the plane rumored to be Pervez Musharraf’s flight out of Pakistan has turned out to be owned by a businessman who is due to fly out soon.

The airplane which had landed yesterday at Noor Khan Air Base gave rise to rumors about former General Pervez Musharraf’s efforts to leave the country. There was a lot of speculation regarding the matter, especially given the dismissal of his petitions by the Special Court.

Earlier, Musharraf’s counsel had requested the removal of their client’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL). However, the special court ruled that it had no authority to remove Musharraf’s name from the the ECL because it was placed by the government.

According to the court, only the government could remove his name from the list.

General Pervez Musharraf was in power from 1999 to 2008 and has now been charged for high treason and is being tried by a special court. However, the former President is currently suffering from a heart condition and is under treatment at a military run hospital.

His counsel had requested the court to allow him to leave Pakistan for treatment and to visit his sick mother. However, his petitions were turned down. The verdict of the court places the decision in the hands of the government.
