According to TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid, the militant group has decided to extend their ceasefire against the Pakistan government and security forces by another 10 days.

The ceasefire, which was part of the negotiation process between the group and the government, expired on March 31. However, according to their spokesperson, the TTP has extended the ceasefire duration in the interest of peace talks and to show their sincerity towards the negotiation process.

The TTP claim that despite their flexibility, the government has not come forward with any constructive offers or good news. The government’s silence, as per the TTP, is confusing people and giving rise to speculation. For now, the TTP have decided to wait for the government to take action, despite their original deadline of 31st March.

The Taliban liaison committee member, Maulana Yusuf Shah also shared that there will be meetings between the Taliban committees and the government today and tomorrow.

He also appealed to the government to step up the peace talk process so that peace is achieved as soon as possible.

The Taliban have been responsible for several terrorist attacks in the country, and the public is generally skeptical regarding the success of the proposed peace talks.
