The city of Mariupol, on the coast of the Sea of Azov, went on to maximum levels of tension following clashes between activists of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk (RPD) and Interior Ministry forces. The clashes that left three dead, 13 wounded and 63 arrested on Wednesday night. It is an indication of  escalation of the crisis in Ukraine, despite the Geneva agreement, it is still a potential target of Russian incursion, as confirmed by President Vladimir Putin, at the annual session of multimedia communication with his people.

There are two versions of what happened in Mariupol. One view, supported by the Ukrainian authorities, militants stormed the base. Depending on the version of the RDP, the activists were victims of a “provocation “, they received a call in which they were told they ” wanted to spend the base side of the people” and to meet ” Right Wing Sector members “. Whatever it was, Molotov cocktails were thrown, shots fired, broken glass, a broken bus and lining of the fences removed and turned into crazy junk.

On Thursday, Mariupol citizens were encouraged to finish the job at 3:00 in the afternoon and go home, as manifested a supporter DPR by telephone from the city, which, according to this source, it has been quiet but tense.

The incident last Wednesday, in which the military crew of six cars crossed into Ukrainian side in Kramatorsk DPR, had caused a reaction expedited chairman of the Ukrainian, Alexandr Turchinov, which threatened to dissolve the 25th motorized brigade Dnepropetrovsk, the Army unit they belonged to the military turned into supporters of pro-Russian activists.

The tanks were driven by their crews, participating in the ” anti-terrorist operation “, from Kramatorsk to Slaviansk teaches acting like the Russian flag.

The incident highlights both the state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as the fragile loyalty to these interim state leaders in Kiev.

The prosecution of Donetsk has initiated criminal proceedings for the delivery of equipment and weapons to pro-Russian militias and soldiers threaten them sentences of up to 15 years in prison.

Before the Supreme Rada (Parliament) in Kiev, Turchinov promised that the military would be tried and that the brigade whose soldiers ” showed cowardice and surrendered their weapons, will be dissolved,” he said.

Ukrainian oligarchs, meanwhile, seek to address with the warmth of the Army money. The deputy governor of Dnepropetrovsk, Boris Filatov has said authorities are working on a mechanism to buy weapons and uncontrolled delivery of “mercenaries”. The governor of Dnepropetrovsk is the oligarch Igor Kolomoski.

In Donetsk, the RPD sent representatives to the city’s airport facilities claiming that he had taken refuge from “mercenaries”. RPD representatives held talks with the airport director. During the day, the sky over the city was crossed several times by military fighters Ukrainians.
