Multibillion Rupees to be Allocated for Projects

It was recently reported from Islamabad that during the upcoming budget of 2014-2015, the government is expected to finance multibillion rupees mega development projects in Pakistan. These projects include the likes of Lahore-Karachi motorway, Metro Bus Service and other projects which are going to be collaboration between Pakistan and China. These projects include road linkages, and establishment of rail services.

The latest finance plans suggest that the government is willing to further upgrade the dry port which is currently located in Havelian. Moreover, there is going to be a rail link between Havelian and Gawadar. Besides this, the government is also expecting to improve the Karakoram Highway so that there is a convenience for trucks that are travelling between Pakistan and China.

The Metro Bus Service project in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has already begun. Another city might be getting this service soon. The government is also trying to acquire land for the Lahore-Karachi motorway.

The official from Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) said, “All ministries / divisions have forwarded 150 to 200 development projects for inserting into the Public Sector Development Programme for 2014-15 but the government has decided to include a few mega projects in the list for the next fiscal year.”
